Barney is only 1 yr old and is the most handsome Lab cross Mastiff – he is medium/large in size (35kg). He has been through so much in his short life so far, and was rescued from a terrible existence, but despite all this, he is just the sweetest, silliest, most loveable, sensitive, playful big goofy puppy who loves everyone. After all he’s been through he deserves to find a very special home who can see how special he is and give him the absolute best life. Barney is a super intelligent, and ‘in tune’ boy – he is desperate to please, is very in tune with his handler and listens really well to what is being asked of him – it’s incredible how much he has picked up already, and how much potential he has. He is housetrained, has picked up lead walking really well (a bit more work needed if he gets excited, or nervous, but for the most part he’s great to walk), has learnt some basic commands and thrives on his routine. Barney does best with a calm, kind and confident person who can give him direction, confidence where needed, but also manage his silly big puppy times too! He is generally very chilled and laid back for a dog his age and is not a high energy giddy/hyper dog at all, but will benefit from plenty of exercise and he loves to get out for long walks. Due to his past, he can be unsure of other dogs – he doesn’t like another dog having a ‘go’ at him, but equally he can be happily introduced to stable friendly social dogs. He will need sensible management and ongoing socialisation with the correct dogs (not just expecting him to meet as many dogs as possible – less is more, and Barney needs to trust that he won’t be put into situations where he will feel overwhelmed). He needs to be the only dog in the home. He is the most wonderful boy who will thrive when he finds the right people who can continue his training, and show him the stability and love that all dogs deserve.
