Meet Missy the 7 year old DDB! Missy is a very special girl looking for a breed experienced 5* home ASAP. She has spent a long time in kennels (not with HYPS) before arriving into our care. Missy is a real character, she is generally very easy going and laid back, but likes to show us her playful side by bouncing up and down shouting for a treat! She is quite a confident character, and is quite ‘demanding’ if allowed to push boundaries! Missy is vocal with strangers when in her kennel, but soon settles and is fine with people outside of her kennel, she is super friendly once bonded with you and gets giddy to see the volunteers she knows here at HYPS. She will need a child free home as we do not know any past history about her. Missy has been fine with dogs she has met on assessment, and could potentially live with a large breed laid back male dog. She walks nicely on the lead, but hasn’t been used to getting any exercise for the past year or so, so isn’t very fit at all and will need regular very short walks to build her up. She is currently a little underweight, but gaining weight now that she is a little more settled – she LOVES her food! Missy has seen our vet as she’s wobbly on her back legs, we think that she has trouble with her hips – this is probably a combination of the fact that she’s an older girl, and her breeding. We have been advised to give her gentle walks, hydrotherapy would be great for her and she may need long term pain relief in time for her hips. Missy tries to stay clean in her kennel, but does have accidents overnight in her kennel – with regular access to a garden, she will be fully housetrained in no time. She loves to lounge in her bed and will be absolutely fine to be left for a few hours. Missy so deserves to find her dream retirement home who know and love her breed. A quieter home with a large garden with few/no steps would be ideal for her, she loves to sunbathe!
