Little Gemma the JRT is looking for a quiet retirement home who will give her lots of love and TLC… and embrace her fab, quirky personality! She is around 12 yrs old and is partially sighted, so does take a little while to get her bearings in new places. Due to Gemma’s sight, she needs a non-cluttered layout in her house with direct access to a flat garden. Gemma is a friendly little lady (not at all snappy), who is both quite independent, but also really enjoys having a cuddle when she wants! She isn’t bothered by other dogs at all, and can live with a very calm smaller dog who won’t bother her… but no cats! Gemma isn’t a yappy dog, BUT! When she wants something… for eg, if there is something that smells yummy in the kitchen, or if she finds a toy that she wants, she will throw her head back and give a big bark at it!! She’s such a little character – a typical older terrier with her quirky ways! Gemma stresses in the car, so needs a home where she won’t have to travel much. Due to her sight, she needs very slow walks (on lead) and doesn’t need long – she also struggles to walk in the dark. She does also have some accidents if not let out often enough, but she does try to stay clean in the house. We’d love to find Gemma a home with some experience of dogs with partially sighted/blind dogs, but this isn’t essential. She’s such a little sweetheart who deserves the very best retirement!
